Letter from the Principal

Dear Families and School Community Members,
My name is Brandi Kelly, and I am honored to serve the Aberdeen Elementary School family as your new Principal! With 19 years of experience rooted in education and leadership, I have spent ten of those years in administrative positions. From high school English teacher and Department Chair, to Director of Sylvan Learning Center, to Assistant Principal and then Principal of Moyock Elementary School in Currituck County, I look forward to using these collective experiences to benefit the students of Aberdeen. Of course, my greatest accomplishment is my family. In addition to being a wife to my supportive husband, Kevin, I am also a Mom to two incredible boys. As a parent, I always want what is best for my children and will work tirelessly to ensure your children also have the best possible experiences at Aberdeen.
Prior to starting the position, I worked closely with Mr. Poole, previous Principal, as well as MCS Central office staff to ensure a smooth transition, learning more about our school, community, and the unique needs of our students and staff. I am committed to embracing the positive traditions and practices that are already in place at Aberdeen Elementary while working diligently to ensure success for the future. I truly believe all children deserve the right to an exemplary education in an environment that is safe and free from distractions. I also believe in partnering with families to help children thrive in their educational environment. Together we can help our children excel and provide them with an education that is second to none.
Once again, I am honored and humbled to serve as the new principal for Aberdeen Elementary School and look forward to meeting the rest of our school family, especially the students! I am excited about all we will accomplish together for our children and look forward to celebrating our collective success over the years to come.
