Aberdeen's Pick Up/Drop Off Information page

Pick Up/Drop Off Information

As a part of our continuous improvement efforts we review and update our policies and procedures. Dismissal was an area of concern for us and so we are adjusting our procedure in order to make school dismissal safer and more efficient. The new dismissal procedure is outlined below and will begin on October 7, 2019.

Afternoon Car Dismissal Updated Procedure:

  • Each family, including bus riding students and Boys and Girls Club members, will be assigned a number to be used at dismissal.
  • Each student’s family will receive 2 large numbers that need to be displayed in the car window whenever you or another authorized person picks up your child. A small copy of the number will be attached to your child’s agenda by their homeroom teacher.
  • When you pull into the car line in the afternoons, students will be released from the cafeteria as their number is called.  Please make sure your number is visible in your windshield so we can make this process as smooth and quickly as possible. You will be directed to a lettered spot for pickup where your child will meet you.
  • Staff members will be stationed at all dismissal pick up areas with students to ensure this process is followed safely and promptly.
  • At dismissal time, we will begin dismissing our car-riders from the holding area as their parent arrives versus all the students standing waiting outside at the same time. If you currently walk up to pick up your child, or pick up your child in the courtyard, you will need to bring your number to the back door of the cafeteria where your child will be released to you. You must present your number at either location to have your child released to you.
  • If you have more than one student, each family will have their own designated number assigned. For example a 3rd grade sister and 5th grade brother will have the same number.
  • If you arrive and do not have your number, you will be directed to park your vehicle and come in to the office where we will then check your photo ID and release your child to you. In order to keep the car rider line moving quickly, if there is any confusion about your child’s transportation, you will be directed to park your car and enter the office so that we can effectively resolve the situation.
  • The numbers will be sent home with your student on Thursday October 3, 2019.

Thank you for your understanding, patience and cooperation with this important routine change for the safety of our children.  As always, “Every child, Every Day, Is The Tiger Way”!
